The absolutely stunning limited edition DX340 MAX has finally been released. Building on the huge success of the DX340, iBasso’s DX340 MAX incorporates the essence of iBasso’s latest R&D developments. With only 688 units worldwide, these MAX series of iBasso always sells out FAST.
The DX340 MAX is equipped with FPGA-Master3.0 technology built on years of in-house developed algorihms by iBasso. Paired with two Accusilicon femtosecond oscillators with the phase noise as low as -158 dBc/Hz@1kHz, a fully synchronized single-clock operation is achieved. The result? Jitter is reduced as much as possible, ensuring very note is accurate, clear, and detailed.
The volume control has also been redesigned with a system that features separate analog and digital volume control. Hence, we are now able to reap the sonic benefits of a stepped attenuator, while not losing the seamless tuning of more typical digital volume control systems. DX340 MAX also features separate analog and digital batteries, with separate charging for each.
Much more can be said on a technical level – yet it’s the ability to synthesize all of the newest R&D into it’s essence into what we hear, and the emotions that it evokes that truly matters. The playback is simply sublime, packing intricate details, accuracy and dynamism. Putting all the MAX series on the line, this version of iBasso’s take on classic reference is without doubt, the best we’ve heard. Such clean, incisive technical performance coupled with a full bodied representation, gives it the musicality without the sharpness, liquid yet detailed sound signature.
And what a looker the DX340 MAX is – with it aerospace grade titanium chassis complimenting its sharp, clean lines. This flagship DAP from iBasso can be described in one word – majestic.
In the increasingly competitive flagship space, some players simply implement audio DSP functions by simulating DSP alogrithms within the SoC using software decoding. Doing so not only compromises its real-time performance, we also get unintended system-level jitter.
The DX340 MAX resolves this issue by using a dedicated professional grade audio DSP. With an exceptional 192dB dynamic range and -174dB THD+N, it literally achieves perfect audio conversion while simultaneously reducing the load on the SoC.
Meanwhile, its FPGA-Master 3.0 serves as the main audio controller, independently managing all audio processing permissions. From a physical architecture perspective, it effectively solves the problem of sound pollution caused by the SoC handling complex OS.
