Arctec Berlin AB 92 Planar Headphone

You would be forgiven to think that Klaus Heinz, founder of ADAM Audio, and HEDD Audio – known for developing the now well-known AMT drivers in the HEDDphone series, was his crowning moment. Yet, as innovators always are, they never sit still.

In 2025, Arctec Berlin was founded. This time around, Klaus has taken a look at current planar technologies and saw an opportunity – how do we take a 92 mm magnetostatic driver and bring its performance to the optimum? Considering both properties – conductivity and specific gravity, silver by far is the ideal material for the conductor track. With the diaphragm measurng at under 1.5 mm thick, including the pure silver conductor tracks, the result is an extremely responsive transient response, capturing intricate, minute details.

It’s open-backed design consists of fully milled aluminium rings, where its high rigidity, singular piece brings about incredible sound reproduction precision. The AB 92 architecture is simply astonishing – and you could see its full, pure silver conductors gleaming through the open-backed rings.
